Patients asked for views of GP
HORNSEA patients are being asked what they think of their local doctor services.
A new survey asking patients for their views on how to improve family GP services is being distributed this week to 20,000 patients, chosen at random, across the East Riding of Yorkshire.
It is the third national GP patient survey to be run by the Department of Health to find out what people think and their suggestions for improving services.
In response to patients' calls for quick access to GP appointments at convenient times in last year's survey, around half of GP practices now offer extended opening hours making it easier for patients to get appointments at times that suit them.
The latest survey includes questions about whether patients find receptionists helpful, have the option of telephone consultations, feel their problem is understood and how they rate the overall care they receive.
Patients are also asked to rate local out of hours care to ensure health care is easily accessible when patients need it.
John Brennan, Locality Associate Director for NHS East Riding of Yorkshire said: "I hope everyone who receives a questionnaire will take the time to fill it in and help to drive improvements in healthcare by giving us an accurate picture of patients' experiences of local GP services."
