New children's centre to open
HORNSEA's new children's centre is preparing for its grand opening on Saturday, January 24.
All are welcome to attend the event, which will run from 1pm to 3pm, for a fun afternoon including the opportunity to take part in a mini-beast safari provided by Sam's Safari, activities for children and entertainment provided by the KCFM roadshow.
The centre's staff team will be at the event to meet and greet parents and carers of children aged five or under, who can also get a preview of some of the activities on offer such as talking toddlers, messy play time, the family nurturing programme, tea time fun time and baby massage.
When open, the children's centre staff will also be able to provide one-to-one support to parents.
The East Riding Children's Centre, Hornsea, is one of 20 that will be opened by East Riding of Yorkshire Council throughout the county.
The children's centres aim to support parents, allow them to enjoy raising their family and give their children the best start in life.
Estella Champion, assistant children's centre co-ordinator, said: "The children's centres work in partnership with other agencies, including local health visitors, midwives and Job Centre Plus.
"They can offer a range of facilities from fun activities for children to information and support for parents, providing a 'one stop shop' for all parents of children under five."
The East Riding Children's Centre, Hornsea, is on the site of Hornsea School and Language College in Eastgate.
