Meat free diet is the key, says Brid's oldest woman, 104
A VEGETARIAN diet has certainly done Blanche Mannix no harm – as the great-great grandmother celebrated her 104th birthday last Thursday.
Blanche was joined by her family and Bridlington Mayor Coun Cyril Marsburg, who helped her celebrate the special day at Mallard Court.
Born in Moose Jaw, Canada, and raised in Winnipeg, Blanche moved to England aged 32 and has always maintained that her meat-free diet is the key to her longevity.
She has never suffered from any serious illness throughout her 104 years and has received marriage proposals on three separate occasions.
Blanche is currently staying at Mallard Court care home, where she is recuperating from a fall, but hopes to return to her home in Old Town's Avenue Court soon.
Her family wished to thank staff at Mallard Court and entertainer Janice King for helping to make Blanche's birthday so special.
