Man in court for allotment theft

A MAN charged with stealing more than £1,000 worth of gardening equipment from a Bridlington allotment will appear at Hull Crown Court on November 16.

Gary John Demoulpied, 40, of Greenwood Avenue, in Hull has also been charged with possessing a quantity of amphetamine, going equipped for theft and driving a car without insurance.

Demoulpied appeared at Bridlington Magistrates' Court last Friday where his case was referred to the Crown Court.

The court heard that Demoulpied was allegedly found in possesion of a Stanley Knife, screwdriver and holdall containing a hammer, saws and wire cutters, a quantity of amphetamine, and is alleged to have been driving a Vauxhall Vectra on the A165 in Bridlington on May 6.

It is also alleged that he entered a shed on Clough Road allotments, in Bridlington as a trespasser, and stole a rotivator, brush cutter, aluminium steps, an electric plane, generator, radio, a collection of tools, a grinder, and a wheel barrow worth 1,218 in total.

He was released on bail with the condition that he is to report to the Priory Road Police Station in Hull between 10am and 1noon on November 13, three days before his court appearance.
