Local house prices may buck national trend
HOME-BUYERS wanting to move to Bridlington for a better quality of life could help the resort buck a housing sales slow-down.
The National Association of Estate Agents is predicting 2005 will see a stable housing market continuing the slow-down of the past few months and slower house price growth of around 3%.
Mike Skelton, managing director of Promark Ltd, in Chapel Street, Bridlington, said price growth will vary due to local issues in individual areas.
He said: "Our local view is that the Bridlington area has become very popular with people looking to relocate to the coast from inland for a better quality of life.
"Consequently, while our local market will also reflect any national slow-down in property price growth, there is every probability it should hold up quite well in comparison."
But Mr Skelton warned sellers to be realistic in their asking prices. "They may also find sales will take longer as buyers who are relocating often need to sell in their area before being in a position to buy locally," he said.
