JD Sports shop closes in Bridlington

The JD Sports shop in the The Promenades Shopping Centre in Bridlington has closed down. (PA1305-4)

THE BRIDLINGTON branch of the national shop chain JD Sports has closed.

The shop had been trading at the Promenades Shopping Centre, and closed last week.

Nobody at JD head office was available for comment on the reasons for the Bridlington store’s closure on Wednesday morning, but earlier this month the company had warned that nationally its full-year profits would be at the lower end of expectations after weak Christmas trading for its Blacks and Millets outdoor retail chains and a sharp sales decline in its Banks and Scotts fashion stores.

However the company said that trading in its core JD Sports shops remained robust in the seven weeks to January 5.

The store was originally All Sports, but was bought out by JD Sports in 2006.
