Jackson fans 'heartbroken'

FANS of Michael Jackson are facing a nervous wait to see if they will get their money back for concerts the star was due to perform this month.

The King of Pop was scheduled to perform eagerly awaited comeback shows at the 02 Arena in London later this month, with tickets costing as much as 75, but following his shock death last week devastated fans have been left out of luck and out of pocket.

One fan was Stephanie Bain, of Sandacres Way, who was due to go and see him with her partner Aron Dulson.

But now Stephanie, 25, like all the other fans who bought tickets to see her idol, now faces a wait for a refund.

"We were really looking forward to it and it's just good that we hadn't booked our hotel yet," she said.

"It was his music that attracted me.

"Back in his day he was really good and we wanted to go and see him to be able to say we have seen Michael Jackson in concert."

Vicki Walsh, of Well Lane, said she had confirmation her money would be refunded but said she was heartbroken by the star's death.

"I have been told that as long as I have my proof of purchase, that's in the form of an e-mail, then I'll be fine.

"But I'm devastated. I've liked him all my life ever since I heard the Bad album."

AEG Live, the Los Angeles-based concert promoter behind the star's comeback, has announced it would issue full refunds, starting yesterday.

Ticket holders will be directed to the website www.MichaelJacksonLive.comwith refunds processed by agencies such as Ticketmaster, Ticketline and Viagogo, while eBay has confirmed it will refund fans who bought tickets through its website.

But fans can also choose to receive memento tickets, in place of a full refund, featuring a 3D image of the star.

The offer to receive the tickets is valid until Friday, August 14.
