MILLIONS watch on television when celebrities are forced to eat all manner of creepy crawlies on I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here.

And dozens gathered to witness a similar feat as fundraisers from Bridlington’s Tesco store set up their own bush tucker challenge.

The event was part of the store’s fundraising efforts for Cancer Research UK - which has seen them raise more than £11,000 in the last year.

Twelve hardy souls took part in the challenge and ate meal worm vol-au-vents, cricket smoothies, dyed black pickled eggs, lamb hearts, fish eyes and deep fried herring milts - the reproductive organs of the male herring fish.

Anna-Marie Jenkinson, community champion at the Station Approach store, said: “Thank you to everyone who took part - Emily Medforth, Adam Lord, Keiran Ruse, Jacob Hunt, Liam Smith, Jo McKenzie, Bradley Jenkinson, Charlie Askew, Jamie Calderbank and Demi and Mandy.

“You were all up for the challenge, well done. We have done really well fundraising for Cancer Research UK, but our year of raising money for that charity comes to an end on February 28 and we wanted to go out with a bang.”

The trial raised £100.
