Hungry thief makes off with bananas and apples from Bridlington house

A BUNCH of bananas and a couple of apples were stolen by an apparently hungry thief who took the opportunity to sneak into a house through an insecure kitchen door.

The incident happened at a house on West Crayke in Bridlington at around 10am yesterday (Thursday March 21).

The suspect is believed to have been delivering items through letter boxes in the area when he committed the theft.

Amazingly, the occupier met the man going out of her garden gate but only later realised what had happened.

The suspect is described as a white man, in his mid 20s, 5ft 6in to 7ins tall, medium build with short, fair to ginger coloured hair.

He was wearing casual, dark clothing and carrying a large rucksack on his back and another on his front.

Police are reminding people to ensure their doors and windows to their homes are kept secure at all times so as not to enable opportunist thieves such as this one to enter their homes and steal goods.

Anyone with information about the theft or the suspect is asked to contact Humberside Police on the non emergency number 101 referring to log number 478 of 21 March 2013 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
