A DOG trainer is looking to sniff out new premises in which she can help canines socialise - and is hoping the Bridlington public can help.

Christine Newlove is hoping that she can find a lead on a suitable location in the Bridlington area that is secure and big enough for her to run classes - which will help solve dogs’ behavioural problems.

Christine, of Nostell Way, who has been a dog trainer for nearly 30 years, said: “Dogs need to be socialised and get used to other dogs - you see that people have problems when they are out walking, dogs attacking other dogs and sometimes people, and I want to be able to help. There are a lot of dogs in Bridlington.

“What I’m looking for is a space that I can use on a regular basis, probably once a week, which is secure enough to allow dogs to be off their lead and learn how to interact with others. Their behaviour would improve.”

Christine, 69, walks her three dogs in the Kirkham Road park with a group of other pooch owners, but said that informal classes there had proven difficult to manage because passers-by and other pets had caused a distraction.

“Socialisation training provides focus for a dog, we can look at getting agility equipment in the future, and that uses up their energy and makes them easier for their owners to walk.

“I would just love it if someone can help us out with somewhere to start these classes.”

Christine is also outspoken about dog mess - and believes that owners should pick it up.
“Since the snow cleared, I have noticed lots of dog mess that has obviously just been left in the bad weather and it gives decent dog walkers a bad name. People need to take responsibility for their pets.”

If you can help Christine find a suitable space for her classes, you can contact her on 321340 or 07989 206880.
