Fraud couple to face trial

A BEMPTON couple will face trial after pleading not guilty to fraud charges.

Barry Shaw, 49, and Rachael Shaw, 48, both of High Street, Bempton, appeared at Bridlington Magistrates Court last Wednesday (Jan 25).

At an earlier hearing, Mrs Shaw had pleaded not guilty to twelve charges of fraud by abuse of position.

The charges related to her role as office manager at Medusa Creations Masonary, where it is alleged she abused her position to gain £15,797.18 over twelve incidents stretching from November 23, 2007 to September 22, 2009.

Mr Shaw had also pleaded not guilty at an earlier hearing to one charge of fraud by false representation, relating to a payment of £15,000 to him to buy shares in Medusa Creations Masonary between May 30 and October 31, 2008.

The pair will face trial at Hull Crown Court on February 20, at 9.30am, and were granted unconditional bail until that time.

Mr Shaw also faces a separate charge of possessing a shotgun without a certificate relating to an incident on March 23 last year at Carnaby Industrial Estate.
