A FILM night to raise money for a performing arts competition was enjoyed by pupils at a primary school.

Youngsters at Bay Primary School, St Alban Road, Bridlington, gathered in the school hall to watch Ice Age on Wednesday October 10 and raised £165 for their entry into the Humberside Police Rock Challenge.

The challenge tasks students to produce an eight minute drama and dance performance aimed at educating them against substance misuse and crime.

Pupils in Keystage two at Bay Primary School are preparing a piece of Where’s Wally-themed dance and drama for the annual performing arts competition in February next year.

Teacher Stephanie Heathcote said: “We have done it not just Where’s Wally but the idea of a child who is not sure where they fit in and they turn to the book of Where’s Walley and see that he fits in everywhere.”

Bay Primary School’s entry in February 2012 won in the competition for their choreography, but are this year concentrating on set design and costume for which they aim to raise £300.

This year over 6,300 students from 81 schools took part in the Humberside Police Rock Challenge, for more information, contact the Lifestyle team on 01482 220701.
