Drugs in underwear

A MAN who concealed four bags of drugs in his underwear has been fined £150 for possession of drugs.

Andrew Leslie Conlin, 29, of Tennyson Avenue, pleaded guilty to possession of diamorphine, a controlled drug of class A, and amphetamine, a controlled class B drug, when he appeared before magistrates in Bridlington last Wednesday.

Prosecutor Emma Dann told the court that at 12.30pm on February 22 Conlin was cycling along a footpath in Bridlington when he was stopped by police officers who noticed he had his fist clenched before he dropped a small foil packet onto the floor.

He was arrested and taken to Bridlington Police Station where four small clear bags were recovered from his underwear.

He admitted to officers the drugs were for his own personal use, Ms Dann added.

Ed Cunnah, mitigating, said: “He tells me that he only uses tablets when he feels particularly depressed or when he’s stressed he buys some drugs to effectively keep him going.”

“He knows it isn’t a problem, it isn’t an ongoing issue that’s causing him difficulties,” he added.

Conlin was fined 100 for possessing a class A drug, 50 for possesssing a class B drug and was ordered to pay 85 costs and a 15 victim surcharge.
