Drug dealers jailed for total of 60 years

TWELVE men have been jailed for a total of 60 years for dealing drugs.

The men, from Doncaster and London, each received between three and nine years. Nine were convicted of supplying Class A drugs, four of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs, and one for being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.

They were charged after a 15-month police probe aimed at ridding Doncaster of drugs.

The men were arrested during two days of police raids in May last year.

More than £15,000 in cash, half a kilo of crack cocaine, and half a kilo of heroin, with a combined street value of around £40,000, were seized during the operation.

Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Steve Whittaker said: “Street dealers attract drug users and this unwanted combination brings with it anti-social behaviour and violence that undoubtedly affects a disproportionate number of local residents and young people.

“This operation is a strong warning to anyone involved in dealing drugs. If you think you are safe to deal drugs in Doncaster, or South Yorkshire, you are wrong.”
