Daniel's chance to get his name up in lights
THE bright lights of stage and screen beckon for a Bridlington teenager who has won a place at a prestigious acting school.
Daniel Desiano-Plummer, 19, of Swanland Avenue, was one of just 24 auditionees to win a place at the Italia Conti Academy of Arts in London.
He will move to the capital in September to start a three-year BA (Hons) Acting Course and said that he is excited about the move.
“Acting is something I have been interested in all my life, I’ve always wanted to be a performer.
“I’m extremely excited about going to Italia Conti, I’m really looking forward to all the challenges that are undoubtedly ahead.
“It sounds a bit corny, but going into acting means that I know that I will be doing a job that I absolutely love.”
Former Bridlington School pupil Daniel has performed with many amateur dramatic societies in Bridlington, most notably with the Migrant Theatre Group where he said he was inspired by fellow thespian Rachael Drew.
“Without her encouragement I wouldn’t have got as far as I have so I’d just like to say a really big thank you to her, and to everyone who has supported me,” said Daniel, who is currently rehearsing hard for a show due to open at York Theatre Royal at the end of this month.
Before he swaps Bridlington for London, Daniel hopes to earn some money by working at a children’s camp in America, something which he has done before and said was the best experience of his life.
