Chris has a close shave for charity!
A PLUCKY Friar Tuck actor really got into his role and raised hundreds for Flamborough RNLI.
Chris Tweedale who played Friar Tuck in the lifeboat crew’s recent Pantomime Robin Hood and his Merry Lifeboat Crew raised over 450 in sponsorship for the station by having the crown of his head shaved.
Chris, 21, works at the local butcher’s shop Burndales Joint in Flamborough and lives in the village.
He said: “I was having a drink with friends in the Ship talking about my role as Friar Tuck when someone said they would sponsor me to have my hair shaved ‘monk style’ for the part.
“I agreed to do this for Flamborough RNLI as I have lots of friends on the crew and I know what an important job they do saving lives at sea.”
One of the stylists from local hairdressing salon, Impressions, agreed to wield the clippers and when it came to the day, Chris said that he ‘nearly shed a tear’ as his full head of hair dropped to the ground in clumps.
Thankfully his mop is growing back well now as he has been feeling the cold of late.
Chris’ family have quite a history of fundraising for the RNLI, his mother Sonia raised over 340 for the Flamborough station when she undertook a sponsored slim last year.
This year’s Panto was a huge success enjoyed by young and old alike and Flamborough RNLI wished to thank all those who attended.
The four performances raised an incredible amount, just over 3,000, and the crew are very grateful to everyone who went along and helped make this possible.
