Chairman visits hospital
BRIDLINGTON Hospital hosted the Chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Coun Christopher Matthews, on his recent civic visit.
Coun Matthews met with nursing staff and viewed the range of additional services introduced at Bridlington Hospital, including the GP Access Centre and stroke rehabilitation facilities.
The visit took place amidst a 12-month refurbishment programme to decorate and upgrade Bridlington Hospital’s wards.
Coun Matthews, who represents Bridlington North Ward, toured the hospital’s Renal Unit and GP Access Unit, which was officially re-named the Wolds View Surgery this month.
He also met the Bridlington Neighbourhood Care Team based within the MacMillan Wolds Unit.
Coun Matthews was accompanied by Karen Knapton, Chairman of NHS East Riding of Yorkshire, Sir Michael Carlisle, Chairman, and Richard Sunley, Chief Executive, of Scarborough and North East Yorkshire NHS Trust.
Karen Knapton said: “This was a very good opportunity to show Coun Matthews in his civic role how the hospital has flourished over the last 12 months with a greater range of health services introduced for people in Bridlington.
“Thank you to all the staff who helped make his visit informative and enjoyable.”
Richard Sunley, Chief Executive of Scarborough and North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust, said: “We remain committed to maintaining and developing Bridlington Hospital as a vibrant hospital and the hospital is very much part of our plans for the future.
“We are pleased to be able to showcase this great facility, and the healthcare services it provides, but more importantly the dedicated staff who continue to provide an excellent service.”
