A community centre used by a host of community groups in Bridlington has been put up for sale.

Bridlington Resource Centre, in Victoria Road, was put on the market on Friday 11 April after its owners, IB2K Ltd went in to administration.

The centre is home to a variety of community groups, small businesses, including U3A, the Rotherham Society and the Pensioners Action Group East Riding (P.A.G.E.R).

Jean Wormwell, of P.A.G.E.R, said: “It would be a crying shame if we were to lose the community base.

“P.A.G.E.R has been at that centre since it opened. We have got a computer system there, a telephone and answer machine set up - we have accumulated a lot of things over the years.

“It is somewhere we can meet people that want to talk about benefits and it is somewhere we can conduct our business.

“There is no other community hub in Bridlington really, other than Christ Church.”

She said P.A.G.E.R had begun to consider finding a new place to meet.

Business recovery firm Begbie Traynors plc is acting as administrators on behalf of IB2K.

Leeds based Chartered Surveyors, Sanderson Weatherall has been appointed as agent to sell 4,6 and 8 Victoria Road.

Craig Watson, surveyor in the asset advisory department at Sanderson Weatherall, said: “The sale certainly won’t affect anybody’s occupation of the rooms, unless anyone went in there with the complete intention to redevelop it which isn’t likely.

“I think most people will be looking at it as an investment as an income producing office building.

“There is no need for anyone who is in occupation to worry about their occupation.

He added a guide price for the building had not been offered, as it is left open for offers from interested parties.

A spokesman for Sanderson Weatherall LLP, said “These two substantial freehold properties offer an excellent opportunity for an investor to take on a cash generative business with excellent active management opportunities to increase occupancy, thus income.

“Our clients are prepared to consider a sale of the buildings together or as two separate lots. They very much remain open for business and we would welcome contact from any local companies seeking flexible accommodation at sensible prices.”
