A BRIDLINGTON woman has died after she was hit by a car in Market Weighton.

Tanya Bailey, of Wellington Road, died when a car hit her as she crossed the A614 Londesborough Road in Market Weighton.

Ms Bailey, 34, was hit by a blue Vauxhall Agila car, driven by a 65-year-old local woman, shortly before 8.30pm last Thursday.

She leaves a four-year-old son.

An ambulance, rapid response vehicle, clinical supervisor and doctor were sent to the incident, but Ms Bailey died from her injuries at the scene.

It is believed Ms Bailey had been a passenger in a blue Ford Focus, which had parked on the A614, and was returning to the vehicle when the collision occurred.

Tanya’s auntie Anne said: “She was a loved member of the family and she will be deeply missed.”

Humberside Police have confirmed that four people who were in the car carrying Ms Bailey were arrested as a result of the collision, on traffic and drugs offences, and have been released on bail. Two of the men are aged 29 while the others are aged 35 and 38. Two of the men are from Bridlington, and one is from Driffield.

The driver of the car which hit Ms Bailey has not been arrested, and did not suffer any injuries due to the collision.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Humberside Police on the non-emergency number 101, referring to log 588 of January 24.
