THE SEARCH is on to find the next female ambassador of the district.

If you think you can bring the Miss Scarborough and District crown to Bridlington now is your chance to enter the 2013 competition.

The Free Press has teamed up with the organisers of the Miss Scarborough and District 2013 competition, and now we’re looking for a worthy young woman to take the title.

Diane Yalezo, who is this year’s regional organiser of both the Miss Scarborough and Miss York contests, said: “This is the third year I have had the pleasure of organising the competition which has gone from strength to strength.

“Today’s competition is designed to find a young woman who is intelligent, talented, charismatic, beautiful inside and out, and who will make a good role model and representative for Scarborough and District at the Miss England Grand Final, to bring the crown and title home with her.”

Scarborough university student Eleanor Hardie, will soon pass on the crown in a glittering regional final.

The 2013 competition is open to young women aged between 17 and 24 years, as of June 15, 2013, who live within 60 miles of Scarborough, must be unmarried and have no children.

The Miss England office is now allowing 16-year-olds to enter the contest, provided they will be 17 as of the national grand final which takes place on June 15, 2013. The closing date for entries is March 22, 2013.

Mrs Yalezo hopes that this year’s event will attract a broad mix of contestants.

She added: “Were not looking for a stereotype, the competition is open to girls from all walks of life.

“So mums, grandmas, boyfriends, if you know somebody who you think could be the next Miss Scarborough & District 2013 then the chances are we will think that too.”

Girls can enter now to secure their place in the first stage auditions, scheduled for mid-April.

Successful applicants will go on to take part in the glamorous regional final, due to be held towards the end of April, which will see a new Miss Scarborough and District crowned.

The winner will gain automatic entry to the prestigious Miss England final taking place on June 15 in Torquay, and she will represent the region at various functions during the year.
