Bizarre tattoo record attempt

A BEMPTON man is literally selling his skin in an extreme bid to cover himself in company logo tattoos.

Father-of-three Richard Nunn, 40, is auctioning off his whole body as advertising space for businesses – after the idea came to him in the early hours of the morning when he was working a night shift as a care worker.

He said that a stark realisation hit him that he wanted to do something with his life that would make his three daughters and three stepsons proud.

Richard said: “I just found myself thinking, what have actually done? I can do more with this life.

“Then I got to thinking of things that I could do that would get me recognised and remembered for something and I came up with the tattooing idea.

“I’m aiming for the world record of having the most company names and logos tattooed on my body.”

Despite the somewhat bizarre nature of Richard’s scheme, he said that he is fully supported by his partner, Tracey Ennis, and his children.

“I haven’t had any negative responses so far,” he said.

“I’ve been knocked back by a few companies who said it wasn’t their thing, but the rejections haven’t been negative, everybody is wishing me luck with it and I have had nothing but positive feedback.”

However, Richard admitted that he has been keeping his plan quiet from most of his friends through fear of them trying to talk him out of it.

“I don’t want them thinking I’m a nutter and for them to be going on about it, trying to talk me out of it,” said Richard, adding that he sees the tattooing as no worse than wearing branded clothes.

“We wear labels everyday,” he said, “For me there is no difference between wearing logos on clothes and actually wearing them on my body.

“As far as I am concerned, it is simply a business transaction between myself and the company, it doesn’t bother me in the slightest.

“At the end of the day, all I want to do is to be able to provide for my family.”

Richard has set up a website where companies can bid for space on his body.

The bidding opened yesterday and Richard said that he has already received interest from one bar in Scarborough, which may be the first company to grace his body with their logo.

But Richard is drawing the line somewhere.

He said: “I’ll cover myself in tattoos, everywhere except my privates, but if there are organisations that go strongly against my beliefs then I would have to turn them down.

“I wouldn’t go for anything from the BNP or the National Front for example, I wouldn’t want them tattooed on me,” he said.
