Bike stars ride into skate park

SOME of the best BMX riders in the world visited Bridlington's Gasworx skatepark as part of the Vans Off The Wall UK BMX Tour 2008.

The Dukes Park venue was one of only three skateparks in the country that the team visited and they gave demonstrations, signed autographs and allowed the spectators to ride with them.

The riders included Ashley Charles, Ben Hennon, Chris Mahoney, Jon Taylor, Mark Webb, Niki Croft, Phil Aller, Scott Edgworth, Sebastian Keep and Zach Shaw.

They were also accompanied by special guests including international BMX superstar Chase Hawk.

Nick Johnson, skatepark manager, said: "People travelled to the Gasworx from around the country and waited all day for the team to arrive and they were definitely not let down. The team spent around three hours at the park and even took time to sign autographs and other memorabilia and allowed the spectators to ride with them.

"All the crowd were blown away by the skills of the team who really enjoyed the park and hope to return in the future.

"Many of the riders are heroes of the young people of the park, but meeting Chase Hawk left many of the riders star-struck.

"He also spent time signing posters, photos, bikes and helmets."

Gasworx is open from 10am everyday during the holidays. Next week entry to the skatepark is half price. For more information contact Gasworx on 602031.
