Baby batterer found guilty
A SUPERMARKET worker and former holiday sales rep from Bridlington is facing up to three years in jail after being convicted of battering two separate babies in his care.
Adam Hewitt, 25, fooled police into not suspecting he had attacked a 10-month old baby causing skull damage. Within 12 months he attacked 13-month-old child of his next girlfriend breaking 11 ribs, a leg and causing permanent brain damage.
He almost escaped justice twice after the Crown Prosecution Service dropped the case. But after being brought to court three years after the last attack Hewitt was finally found guilty today by a jury at Hull Crown Court after a 10 –day trial.
He was cleared of intending to cause grievous bodily harm which could have seen him jailed for nine years but found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm without intent.
Hewitt, who was remanded in custody, will be sentenced at Hull Crown Court in four weeks time.
