Angela flying high in RAF
A newly-qualified Royal Air Force officer from Bridlington is flying high after recently graduating from a prestigious military college.
Angela Dickinson, 26, graduated as a Flying Officer from the Officer and Aircrew Cadet Training Unit at RAF Cranwell, near Sleaford in Lincolnshire.
Angela joined 93 other cadets outside the historic College Hall to parade in front of Air Vice-Marshal J Lamonte, Chief of Strategy, Policy and Plans.
During the parade she was presented with the Group Captain Williams Memorial Trophy awarded to the RAF cadet who, during the course, has shown the greatest improvement.
Music on the day was provided by the Band of the Royal Air Force Regiment and there were flypasts by a Tornado aircraft from RAF Lossiemouth.
Angela, whose parents Andrew and Julie still live at Bridlington, attended Bridlington School before graduating from Leeds College of Music with a BA (Hons) in Music Studies.
She joined the RAF in June last year, following in the footsteps of her younger brother James who serves as a Flying Officer at RAF Brize Norton, and will now begin her professional training with the Personnel (Operations) Branch.
On graduating she said: “This is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life but I loved every minute. I’m now looking forward to the challenges my career will pose.”
