A VIP kick-off for new Bridlington sports area

BRIDLINGTON has a new and safe all-weather sports area which the town council hopes will score points with local players.

Town mayor Coun Cyril Marsburg officially opened the new 70,000 all-weather multi-use games area (MUGA) next to the Gasworx skatepark, off Moorfield Road, last Saturday.

The floodlit and supervised facility has been funded by WREN, Bridlington Town Council and the Youth Opportunity Fund and local sports clubs can book it for 15 an hour for training sessions in football, hockey, basketball and other sports.

After the opening ceremony, Bridlington Rangers FC tested it out with youth football coaching demonstrations.
