A WOMAN celebrated a milestone birthday in showbiz style with a trip to a festive pantomime.

Edith Negus turned 101 on Thursday December 20 and was treated to a celebratory trip to Beauty and the Beast at the Spa Bridlington.

Friends of the Elderly organised the outing for Edith and other members, who also met panto cast members Craig Phillips and Lisa Kelsey over lunch. Spokesperson for Friends of the Elderly Julie Sayles said: “We thank the Spa staff for their kindness and support to make the occasion a special day.”

Edith was born in Bridlington and is helped by Friends of the Elderly to keep active and independent. She is involved with several groups in the town.

The scheme has held several Christmas lunch parties and a Christmas carols party held at the Resource Centre, which was attended by Baptist minister Roger, his wife Helen and members of the Baptist congregation.

Julie said: “Many people have given their time to make these occasions special and I cannot give a big enough thank you to everyone for helping the scheme to help members enjoy some Christmas spirit.

“We wish all a Happy New Year and look forward to many more social occasions in 2013.”
