999 call by girl, 3, a hoax

DETECTIVES investigating a 999 call to the ambulance service which claimed to be a three-year-old girl reporting her mum collapsed at home have confirmed the call was a hoax.

Two ten-year-old girls living in Bridlington were identified this afternoon (July 31) as responsible for the hoax and police officers are now liaising with their parents and partner agencies to decide on what action to take.

The hoax call made headlines around the world today as police issued an urgent plea to trace the mystery caller.
