THE first local election results for Bridlington have been announced and have seen Coun Ray Allerston and Coun Richard Burton keep their seats.

The two councillors will continue to represent Bridlington Central and Old Town.

SDP Councillor Ray Allerston has worked as a councillor in Bridlington for 24-years and won 1,167 votes today, while Conservative Councillor Richard Burton won 903 votes.

Both were pleased with the turn-out and Coun Allerston said: “The result is very good.

“I have come top for years, as you know, at every election.

“I put the work in and that is what it needs, and getting well known at local politics, because it isn’t a case of party, it is a case of personality.”

Coun Burton said: “I am feeling relieved and ready to start work again for the people of Bridlington as best I can.

“There is a lot that needs doing and I would like to continue giving 110% to the Bridlington and Old Town residents.”
