Marina arguments just don't wash
The council's consultants' research about the marina does not make much sense.
At best, yachting is a six-month market (May to September) so the 30 jobs would only be seasonal.
They have not said why 80 boats from Hull or 50% of boats from Scarborough and Whitby would come to Bridlington.
From what I can gather, boats are removed from the water and put into storage over the winter months so the 320 berths are only viable for six months. Where this 900,000 estimate comes from I don't know.
I would expect that to build this marina would cost millions of pounds of tax and rate-payers' money yet only a small minority of people in Bridlington will benefit.
If the council can afford this kind of project, then why not pump this money into Bridlington Hospital and put it in a position to help everyone before the NHS trust closes it down?
