EMERGENCY repairs have been made to a cracked pipe at Bridlington Leisure World’s wave pool meaning it is now back in action in time for the Bank holiday weekend.

As previously reported the wave pool was closed to the public on July 22 after a leak was discovered, which was later traced to a cracked pipe.

The pool was drained and contractors working on behalf of the council carried out emergency repairs.

Now the pool has re-opened today (Friday August 24) just in time for families to make the most of the facility over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Darren Stevens, head of culture and information at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “The council and Leisure World are very happy that the repair works on the wave pool are now complete and that the pool is once again open to residents and visitors, it is especially pleasing that the pool is open in readiness for the bank holiday weekend.

“When the leak was first identified, it was thought that a new pipe may have to be put in, but the contractor has repaired the system using non-intrusive technology allowing the job to be completed more quickly.”
