Alfredo Merigo has been sentenced to life in prison today after being found guilty of murdering his estranged wife.
Describing the fatal stabbing of Linda Merigo in Driffield last September as a “cold, calculated, callous killing” Judge Roger Keen QC ordered Merigo to serve a minimum jail term of 27 years.
Passing sentence Judge Keen said: “You are a grievous, possessive and manipulative man and your victim fell foul of that.”
The jury of four women and eight men spent an hour and a half deliberating the unanimous verdict following a two week trial at Sheffield Crown Court.
