A Bridlington woman is searching for a new home for 50 knitted items she has made over the past two years.

Mrs Joan Long, of Kingfisher Drive, would like the garments to go to a charity helping children overseas, after arthritis has forced her to put down her needles.

Mrs Long, 77, has been knitting for 70 years and this would be the third box of knitting she has sent abroad, if there was someone willing to help her.

She said: “If I can bring a bit of happiness and a bit of warmth to some of these children than I’ll be a very happy person.”

Mrs Long admitted she would not be completely giving up her lifelong passion for knitting.

But certainly wouldn’t be doing it as much in the future.

The items include jumpers, cardigans matinee coats, pram sets, pullovers and beanie hats all for ages one to five.

Over the years Mrs Long has knitted a diverse range of items from blankets and scarfs to dog coats and Christmas decorations.

If anyone can help find a suitable cause to donate the knitwear to, please call 01262 608129.
