BRIDLINGTON’S Alderson House raised an excellent total at its recent Poppy Ball.
Their first ever Poppy Ball, held at the Revelstoke Hotel last weekend, helped the centre – which provides free breaks for current and ex-servicemen and women – raise in the region of £900.
Of that total, £274.51 was raised by Royal British Legion maintenance manager James Lowery for cutting off his trademark ponytail.
The money raised goes towards providing activities, trips and entertainment for the social enjoyment and comfort of guests visiting Alderson House and the Poppy Appeal.
Helen Birkbeck, manager at Alderson House, said: “The evening was a complete success and we would like to thank the local businesses which contributed raffle prizes for the event.
“As we mark our 90th anniversary, the Legion’s mission is to put welfare at the heart of our organisation and continue to help those who have Served and continue to Serve our country.”
