SOME say you see enough of your family at home.

But that obviously is not the case for those working at one Bridlington supermarket, after bosses noticed that almost a third of the workforce are related to another member of staff.

Management at the Morrisons supermarket, on Bessingby Road, noticed that 74 of the store’s 247 staff members are related to another member of staff - certainly keeping things in the family.

And while many work alongside siblings, parents, aunts or uncles, a newly married couple will be able to spend some quality time together after falling in love across the bread aisle.

Stephanie and Jamie Barmby were married last weekend - on their 8th anniversary.

“I suppose it is a bit weird, but everyone gets on well and it is a good place to work,” said Stephanie, 25, who works in the cake shop and married baker Jamie, on Saturday, August 11 at Bridlington Town Hall.

“You can definitely never keep a secret at work,” said Stephanie.

“It’s fair to say that without Morrisons, we would never have met.

“We were just colleagues at first, but we all went out to see the football one day and it just went from there.”

Beverley O’Grady, personnel manager at Morrisons, said: “I’ve never known so many members of staff being related to another, it is a really high number.

“I think it must be unique. I’ve worked in other Morrisons stores and we have had members of the same family working together, but never to this scale.”
