Bridlington Hospital has said goodbye to an award-winning staff member after 23 years of service.

A special ceremony to mark Margaret Hedges’ dedication and long service was attended by staff from Bridlington and Scarborough Hospitals on Friday.

Margaret, who has lived in Bridlington all her life, completed her final shift on Friday and has been at the hospital since it first opened its doors in 1988 .

During that time Margaret has worked in a variety of roles such as Domestic Supervisor and Hotel Services Supervisor.

Margaret said: “I have really enjoyed the variety of my job and have worked with an excellent team of staff over the years.”

Last year Margaret was awarded an ABCD Award, a staff recognition award, for going Above and Beyond the Call of Duty.

Carol Ward, Hotel Services Manager at the Trust, said: “Margaret has seen many changes at Bridlington hospital over the last 23 years.

“Her vast knowledge of the department and her expertise will be greatly missed and I am sure all her colleagues will join me in wishing Margaret a long and happy retirement.”
