A FORMER Headlands School teacher has been sent back to Africa with a smile after a generous donation from the school community group.

Former assistant headteacher Mike James delivered assemblies to students earlier in the year about his travels in Tanzania working for Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) at six secondary schools in Zanzibar.

Now Mr James is on his way back to Tanzania with £150 donated from the Headlands School Community Group.

This money found its way to the group after Headlands students took part in the Bridlington Lions sponsored Mile of 2p coins world record attempt.

This money will now go to Fuoni school in Tanzania, which is now linked to Headlands, which will fund much needed science equipment at the school.

The Headlands Community Group hopes to raise more funds for Fuoni school over the coming year.
