WHEN Dorothy Atkinson was born, Albert Einstein was in his intellectual prime and Las Vegas had just been founded.
That was 106-years-ago and Mrs Atkinson recently celebrated her landmark 106th birthday with a traditional celebratory party at the Trout at Wansford, surrounded by family and friends.
Mrs Atkinson lived on Bridlington’s Quay Road for 20-years before moving to Market Weighton.
She has two daughters, Dorothy and Blanche, two grandchildren, Gail and Ian and two great-grandchildren John and Mark.
For the last 15-years she has been a regular at the Trout at Wansford and every year since her 100th birthday has had a celebratory lunch there with up to 20 guests.
Her daughter Blanche said: “She enjoys good health and is looking forward to next year’s celebrations already, we don’t know if there are many women older than her in Yorkshire.”
