IT WILL be a good hair day, every day at East Riding College, after their salons received professional recognition.
The Inspire Hair and Beauty salons at the college have been recognised as a Centre of Excellence by industry leader Wella Professionals.
The salons at Bridlington and Beverley campuses join a select band of 30 colleges nationally achieving the high standards worthy of the award.
Paul Oscroft, from Procter and Gamble Salon Professional, presented the award to Natalee Eddom, the college’s head of hairdressing, barbering and beauty therapy, in the newly refurbished salon at the campus in Gallows Lane, Beverley.
She said: “It is a real honour for East Riding College to be designated as a Wella Professionals Centre of Excellence by such a big name in the hair and beauty industry.
“This award is recognition of the hard work by teaching staff in developing the hairdressers of tomorrow and the students in their efforts to produce work of the highest standards.
“I would like to thank Wella Professionals for this prestigious award and congratulate all those at East Riding College who helped make it happen.”
Mr Oscroft said: “Wella Professionals is proud to support East Riding College as a Centre of Excellence. It provides its learners with the best possible start in their hairdressing career. The dedication and passion of the hairdressing team is a real asset to the local industry.”
East Riding College has commercial salons at its campuses in Beverley and Bridlington where hairdressing, barbering and beauty therapy students learn their craft. Students, many of whom already work in high street salons, hone their skills by working on genuine paying customers under the supervision of tutors.
