YOUNGSTERS from Gembling School enjoyed a trip to a local store to find out more about colours and patterns.
Eight children from the village school, aged 4-6, visited the B&Q store on Bessingby Road where they were treated to their own special uniforms, as well as demonstrations on how to mix paint and choose wallpapers.
Lisa Wilson, foundation and key stage 1 teacher at Gembling, said: “We want to say a very big thank you to everyone at B&Q who were absolutely fantastic with the children.
“They all had a really good time, the children haven’t stopped talking about it since they came back to school and some have even said ‘it was the best day ever’.
“The staff at B&Q gave the children their own uniform which they got to keep, and they all got samples of paint and wallpaper to keep which will help them in their lessons on colours and patterns, which they are doing in class at the moment.” A cabin outside the school has also been transformed by children into their own miniature B&Q store.
