CHILDREN at a local school joined an ex-councillor in planting a commemorative tree to remember a royal year.
Former councillor Norman Hall MBE, supplied a tree to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.
Eearlier in the month, children from Flamborough School joined him to plant it in the village.
Children from the reception class accompanied Mr Hall MBE as the tree was planted in Cameron Gardens in Flamborough.
Dawn Wardell and Morag Sinclair, acting co-headteachers at Flamborough School, told the Free Press: “The children enjoyed this experience and all helped to plant the tree.
“This was a great opportunity to work with members of our community and use our local environment to enrich the childrens’ learning.”
