HEROES are certainly welcome in Bridlington – as another business signs up to the scheme.

Bubbles hand car wash at 45 Scarborough Road is the latest firm to commit to the initiative, which offers current and retired servicemen and women help through special discounts. Bubbles is offering a 20% discount.

The Heroes Welcome scheme was launched last year and aims to acknowledge and reward the efforts of forces veterans and those currently serving in the Army, Air Force and Navy. Here are a list of the businesses already signed up with the Heroes Welcome scheme:

l Restaurants and cafes that have joined the scheme include: Queensgate Fisheries in Queensgate, Captain Scotts fish and chip shop in Prince Street, Times Gone By cafe in Hilderthorpe Road, Buffalo’s Restaurant in Regent’s Terrace, Mary’s Cafe in Prince’s Terrace and Taffy’s Tea Room in Promenade.

Bonifacio’s Restaurant in Regent’s Terrace also welcome heroes, along with Golden Anchor cafe in Promenade, Richardson’s Old Town Bakery in Market Place, Emperor Ming Chinese Take Away in Lansdowne Road, Gabby Chippy in High Street, The Sandwich Shop in Manor Street, and Cliff End Cafe in Lighthouse Road, Flamborough.

l Pubs and clubs already part of the Heroes Welcome campaign include: The Ship Inn in Post Office Street, Flamborough, the Martonian Inn in Sewerby, Pavilion Bar in Promenade, the Bosville Arms in Rudston and Bridlington Snooker Centre in Promenade.

l Guest houses have also signed up to the scheme, including Winston House in South Street, Northcote Hotel in Trinity Road, Villa Guest House in Wellington Road, South Bay Holiday Flats and B&B, Helena Holiday Flats in Windsor Crescent, Grange Farm Cottages in Flamborough Road.

l Shops and local businesses part of the scheme include Barton Auto Repairs in Havelock Crescent, K&K Crafts in Promenade, Bed Warehouse in Station Approach, Terry’s Gift Shop in Queen Street, Hornsea Carpets, Peter Arthurs Menswear in Bridge Street, Aristo Electronics in Promenade, J Waterall Ltd in Hilderthorpe Road, The Barber Shop in Lansdowne Road, Ellanor Windows on Bempton Lane Industrial Estate. Discounts are also available at Jon White plumbing services, Paul’s home improvements, West Hill Community Services, Superfruits in Marshall Avenue, and Gallerino Studio in Hilderthorpe Road. Vantage Motors in Hilderthorpe Road are offering discounted car servicing and valeting, while Springfield Motorhomes in Boundary Road are offering discount on motorhomes.

Blake’s Taxis and Vantage Motors are part of the campaign, along with Carrierway Removals in Nafferton.

For thise looking for a little entertainment, Bridlington Town AFC and Scarborough Athletic FC at Queensgate, along with Bridlington RUFC at Dukes Park, offer free entry for all league matches during the season, and Gala Bingo on Promenade and JMS amusements are also part of the scheme.
