PANTO stars, Father Christmas and town councillors joined together to celebrate the festive season with shoppers in the Promenades shopping centre.

Bridlington Mayor Cyril Marsburg dished out helpings of mulled wine and mince pies while stars of the Spa’s panto, Jack and the Beanstalk, made a guest appearance to meet local shoppers.

Kailee Jenkinson, 10, winner of the town council’s Christmas card design competition, was also presented with a panto ticket by cast members including Charlie Dimmock, Lisa Kelsey and Craig Harper.

Coun Marsburg said that the occasion had been a huge success, with £575.78 raised on the day donated to the Mayor’s charities for the year, SSAFA – Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association, and the Katie Walker Cancer Trust.

“I would really like to say a huge thank-you to everybody involved in the event,” said Coun Marsburg.

“The Spa panto cast were great, as were the Lions and Father Christmas and all the town councillors who gave their support.”

ERYC and ERYCA, the Christmas bears, were also on hand with Coun Marsburg to have their Bridopoly card stamped at local shops.

The town’s very own take on the board game Monopoly – ‘Bridopoly’ – encouraged shoppers to explore what is on offer in Bridlington town centre by taking a game card shops to be stamped. Completed cards were entered into a draw for £50, with Mr and Mrs Parkin of Trinity Road named the winner.
