The East Yorkshire Federation of WIs has its own choir – “Eastern Lights”.

After obtaining a Lottery Grant to take music out to rural areas they have travelled around the area conducting workshops and giving “Singing for Joy” concerts.

To this end, a concert and pop-up tea open to all was held at Kilham Village Hall on Saturday 9 July.

Kilham WI provided an exceptional afternoon tea including sandwiches and cakes, with of course, plenty of tea!

There were stalls with homemade cakes, jewellery and cards to tempt everyone as well as an auction for a beautiful sewing basket. The choir sang several beautiful songs including a fun WI adaptation which included cake tins, knitting needles and teacups, and had the audience laughing from start to finish.

A wonderful afternoon was had by all.
