PUPILS at Hilderthorpe Primary School enjoyed a Willy Wonka day as they recreated a Roald Dahl classic last week.
Children from year’s 3 and 4, along with teachers, dressed up as characters from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as part of their literacy studies.
The children have been reading the book in their literacy lessons and have been challenged to create their own chapters and adapt pieces into a play - which they performed in class.
Kids were also treated to games, a real Willy Wonka bar with a golden ticket, and a special screening of the original 1971 film, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
“The children looked great and everyone had a brilliant day,” said Mrs Hoggarth, head of Key stage 2 at the school.
“The kids loved reading the book in class and put a lot of effort into creating their own ideas for the play. We watched the original film as well, a lot of the kids had never seen it before!”
