A DIVER had to be rescued by the Flamborough Lifeboat crew after getting into difficulty trying to come ashore.
The Flamborough Lifeboat was launched at 9pm last Tuesday (July 24) after they receieved a call that a lne diver was struggling to get back to the beach.
The call for help was made by a walker on the cliff top who could see that the diver was being washed further out by the tide.
When the volunteer crew reached him he had drifted round to a point called Breil Nook and they had to remove the bulky oxygen cylinders to enable them to pull him aboard the lifeboat.
Flamborough Lifeboat spokeswoman Jane Heaton said: “Thankfully the man from Hedon near Hull was okay and put back ashore at North Landing.
“However, had it not been for the quick response from Flamborough RNLI and the person who made the emergency call, things could have been very different.”
