A DANCING couple have today reached their golden wedding milestone.
Robert and Shirley Sedman, 82 and 70, of St John’s Avenue, Bridlington, are celebrating their anniversary at the sequence dance club they both attend in Bridlington.
The couple were both born in Bridlington, have raised their family of four children in the town and are proud grandparents of seven grandchildren.
Dancing is not the only hobby they shared during marriage, as they both were keen badminton players and also enjoy darts.
Shirley said: “He wins every time when we play darts at home, but it gives me practice.
“You have got to learn a bit of tolerance. We do argue, and I can’t believe couples that say they don’t. We have got to give and take a bit.”
Robert met Shirley as a friend of the family and they were married on 4 October, 1962, at the Priory Church in Bridlington Old Town, with family and friends present.
“We have just been a normal family, we have grown as the kids have grown,” said Shirley. They plan to celebrate their anniversary with a family meal out at a restaurant.
