A DANCE show held at Leisure World in memory of local cancer victim Judy Jones raised over £500 for Macmillan.

Judy’s friends from the Happy Tappers dance class, who meet at Leisure World, staged the event which featured local entertainers, a raffle and a tombola to raise money for Bridlington Hospital’s Macmillan unit.

Dance leader and organiser Fay Firth was delighted with the event’s success, and said: “We were really pleased with it, there was a very good turn-out. We raised £260 at a similar event before that, so to raise £574 in Bridlington was brilliant.”

The Happy Tappers have raised money for Macmillan since the death of dance classmate Judy shortly before Christmas last year.

Members presented Macmillan nurses with the money which may be put towards buying new flat screen televisions as part of the refurbishment of the Macmillan Wolds Unit at Bridlington Hospital.
