A ‘chainsaw’ was used to steal £400,000 worth of merchandise from a Bridlington jewellers while staff were preparing to close for the night.

Three men on motorbikes, wearing helmets, are alleged to have cut out a section of a display window at Griffin’s Jewellers, Prospect Street, on Monday at around 4.50pm.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “There are reports some members of the public may have been using their mobile telephone recording facilities at the time of the crime and police would like to hear from those individuals.

“Anyone who can assist police is asked to contact the non emergency number 101 referring to log 453 of 10 November 2014.”
