Two men have been charged with endangering the safety of an aircraft after shining laser pens at a helicopter in the Carnaby area.

Humberside Police helicopter pilots were left “speechless” after they came under attack by a laser in February.

The incident took place above Carnaby, where helicopter Oscar99 was carrying out a search.

The helicopter team tweeted: “Whilst conducting search [we were] lasered Speechless!”

A spokesperson for the force said: “Incidents of this nature can compromise public safety and for that reason police will always deal with such matters as a priority.

“If prosecuted and found guilty of such activity, anyone responsible for endangering the safety of an aircraft in this way could face a prison sentence.”
