A convicted sex offender admitted exposing himself to a 16-year-old girl after pushing her off a bike while she cycled home from college.
Depraved Danny Broadbent, of Harrington Road, pleaded guilty to the lurid act at Beverley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (December 23), as well as one charge of common assault on his young victim.
Prosecuting, Colette Dixon told chairman of the bench Mr N. Potts, that the victim had been cycling home from college on Thursday (December 12) when she was approached by Broadbent and another male.
She said: “The defendant pushed the girl off the bike.
“The defendant was clearly in drink.
“When he heard from the victim that she was going to report the incident, he then pulled his tracksuit bottoms down, deliberately exposing himself.
“In doing so, he started moving his hips about, exposing his genitals. There were some witnesses that intervened.
“That person was with their 17-year-old daughter who witnessed the incident.”
Mrs Dixon said the young girl immediately went to a police station to report the disgusting assault, where she told officers Broadbent had pestered her “for some time”.
“There will be an application for a restraining order to protect the 16-year-old from any further harassment.
“When the defendant was interviewed, he could not remember what happened.”
In mitigation Amelia Woollen told the chairman of the bench that credit should be given to Broadbent for admitting the offences at the first opportunity.
She added: “I would ask the case be adjourned until after a pre-sentence report is made.”
Bailing him until January 15, Chairman of the Bench Potts told Broadbent he must not attempt to make contact with his victim or the two witnesses.
